Basics
What is chatlogs.de?
Basics
chatlogs.de is an archive of public Twitch chats. We record the chat of selected channels and make it readable: sorted by channel and day, searchable by person and by word. Twitch itself no longer shows the chat of a past stream – here it stays.
On top of that there are open statistics, a personal evaluation of your own chat history (“My file”) and free tools for streamers such as the clip overlay, the prize wheel and the chatbox for OBS.
Is chatlogs.de free?
Basics
Yes, completely. There are no ads, no subscription and no paid extras. Reading, searching and the statistics work without signing in; you only need a Twitch account for personal features such as favourites, “My file” or the overlays.
Which channels are recorded?
Basics
A hand-picked collection of German-speaking Twitch channels. The full list is on the “Chat logs” page, the current number on the home page. If a channel is missing, you can suggest it with your Twitch account – every suggestion is reviewed by us.
Streamers can object to their channel being recorded at any time – a ticket or an informal email to us is enough.
Go to the chat logs Suggest a channel Remove my whole channel
Which messages are stored?
Basics
Only what appears in the public chat of a recorded channel – messages anyone can see who has the chat open. Whispers and other private content are not captured.
For every message we store what Twitch sends along with it: channel and time, Twitch name and ID, name colour, badges and the emotes used. The public profile picture is stored as well.
How far back do the recordings go?
Basics
To the day a channel was added. We cannot recover older messages because Twitch does not hand them out. That is why the calendar only lets you click days for which a recording actually exists.
Do I need an account?
Basics
Not for reading and searching. You only need a Twitch account for things that belong to you: favourites, suggesting channels, “My file”, “My data & deletion”, support tickets and the overlays for streamers. There is no separate chatlogs.de account – you always sign in through Twitch.
Who is behind chatlogs.de?
Basics
An independent private project from Germany. chatlogs.de is not affiliated with Twitch in any way. The imprint tells you who is responsible and how to reach us.
Is the site available in English – and in a light theme?
Basics
Yes. Switch the language via the flag in the header and the theme (light, dark or follow your system) via the button next to it. Your browser remembers both – and if it is set to a language other than German, a German page shows a note at the top that points to its English version. Only the legal texts – imprint, privacy policy and opt-out – are available in German only.
Does the live feed on the home page really show every message?
Basics
The counter does, the feed not always. The number counts every archived message; the feed below it shows at most 30 lines per second. When chat writes faster, it shows an excerpt and says so with the “Excerpt” label next to the heading – so it stays readable and keeps flowing evenly instead of stopping. Every line shown is real and appears the moment the number moves on.
The site is down – where can I see whether there is an outage?
Basics
On the status page. It deliberately runs on a different server so it stays reachable even when chatlogs.de itself is down. It shows whether the website, the archive and the overlays are currently working.
Reading & searching
How do I read the chat of a particular day?
Reading & searching
On the “Chat logs” page, pick the channel in the list, then click the day in the calendar. The full history appears with emotes, subs, raids and moderation actions – in the order it happened during the stream. You can reverse the order, and there is a search box above the history.
What does the hammer next to a channel or in my file mean?
Reading & searching
The hammer means that Twitch currently gives us no information about this account. Usually it has been suspended, deleted or deactivated by its owner – Twitch does not tell us which. For a recorded channel, no new messages are added as long as that lasts, and the profile picture is shown in black and white.
The existing chat history stays fully readable. Once the account is available again, the hammer disappears and recording resumes on its own within an hour at the latest. In your file, such a period appears as “not retrievable” in the history of your Twitch status.
How do I search a day for a word or a person?
Reading & searching
Type the term into the search box above the history. Only matching lines are shown and hits are highlighted. The advanced search next to it narrows things down further by person or by event type – for example only subs or only deleted messages. The search is part of the address and can be shared as a link.
How do I find all messages of a particular person?
Reading & searching
Use the user search at the top of the “Chat logs” page (or the box at the bottom of the home page) and enter the person’s current Twitch name. It shows which channels the account has written in, how many messages there were and how the activity spreads over time. Accounts that never wrote in a channel we record won’t turn up. Brand-new accounts and fresh renames may take a few minutes to show up in the search. Clicking a channel opens the profile there – with a timeline and the days the person was active.
Can I follow the chat of a live stream as it happens?
Reading & searching
Yes. What is written in chat right now appears in the archive shortly afterwards. So you do not have to keep reloading, the current day has an “Automatic” switch: when on, it fetches new messages once a minute as long as the tab is visible. It is off by default.
How can I see which channels are live right now?
Reading & searching
You can spot channels that are streaming right now by the green ring around their picture; the stream’s category sits under the name, the viewer count on the right. Above the list, on the right, there’s also a “LIVE” button with a number: that’s how many of the archived channels are live right now. Click it to see only those channels – the ones with the most viewers first, your favorites at the very top; click “Viewers” above the list to sort them A to Z instead. Click “LIVE” again to see all channels.
The viewer count next to the category takes you straight to the stream: clicking it opens the stream on Twitch in a new tab. On a computer, the same link also sits at the top next to the channel name whenever you open a channel that’s live – on wide screens with the full category right beside it. While this view is on, the list checks about once a minute who’s streaming.
How up to date is today's chat?
Reading & searching
Today is still growing while you read. Above the chat you'll see “As of” with the time the view reaches. “Refresh now” fetches new messages yourself; turn on “Automatic” and they arrive on their own at the top of every minute while the tab is visible.
Everyone reading the same channel gets the same update – that's why it always moves on at the full minute and not earlier. A new message usually shows up within a minute. If the moderators delete a message, it disappears with the next update. Finished days no longer change, so the bar isn't shown there.
What do the coloured markers in the chat mean?
Reading & searching
A coloured bar at the edge of a line marks special events: subs by tier, bits, raids, announcements, messages highlighted with channel points, and moderation actions – ban, timeout, deleted message and cleared chat. The “Display” button above the history opens the legend.
There you can switch every marker off individually or as a group – and likewise show or hide timestamps, user names, badges and emotes. The number next to each entry tells you how often the event occurred that day.
Why do some emotes only show as text?
Reading & searching
Twitch emotes are always shown as images. We also know 7TV and BTTV emotes – you can switch them on or off per provider in the display window. What remains as text is usually an emote the channel has since removed or that no longer exists at the provider.
Why do some messages only say “deleted” without any text?
Reading & searching
The moderators deleted that message in chat. Our rule: anyone who could no longer read it in the live chat cannot read it in the archive either. The line stays so there is no silent gap in the history – just without the wording. In a chat shared by several channels (Shared Chat), we hide a message everywhere as soon as one channel has deleted it – if only a partner channel did, the line says “Deleted in a partner channel”, because it was usually still readable live here.
The text is visible only to signed-in moderators and the owner of that particular channel, and to a few selected members of our team who handle reports and requests. Your own deleted messages are included in your data export.
Can I see what someone was called before?
Reading & searching
Publicly you can only see THAT an account changed its name or picture – as a number, not the content. The previous names and pictures are visible to three groups only: the person themselves, moderators and channel owners in the channel where the person has written, and a few accounts we have named for support.
The reason: a name change is often a deliberate decision to leave the old name behind. Moderation teams still need the history – but only where they carry responsibility.
Can I share a link to a particular day, search or single message?
Reading & searching
Yes. Every view has its own address: channel, day, search, open profile and a highlighted message are all in the address bar. Just copy it – whoever opens the link sees exactly the same view. The browser’s back button also steps back one view at a time. To point at a single message, click its time: the line turns yellow and the link to it is in your clipboard. Whoever opens it lands right at that message.
If you paste the link into Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp or X, the preview shows what is behind it: for a streamer’s chat their profile picture and the number of archived messages, for a day the date with that day’s messages, for a search the search term. A link to a profile only shows the channel in the preview, never the person.
What do “Top chatters” and “Top emotes” show?
Reading & searching
Per channel, the accounts that have written the most and the emotes used most often – either for a period or across the whole archive. Above the list you can see how current the numbers are. Chat bots are included and carry a BOT label if Twitch lists them as a bot or we have marked them as one; the robot-icon switch above the list (“Hide bots”) takes them out, and the next accounts move up.
What is on the statistics page?
Reading & searching
Open numbers about chatlogs.de itself: how big the archive is and how it grows, which channels are read most and how many visitors the site has. The visitor numbers come from a cookie-free measurement on our own server – with no personal data.
Why does loading a day sometimes take longer?
Reading & searching
Big channels produce tens of thousands of messages in a single day – several megabytes your browser has to load and render first. The loading indicator shows the progress. If you are only looking for something specific, the search above the history is the faster route.
Why do I sometimes have to solve a security check?
Reading & searching
Particularly heavy queries – such as the user search across all channels – are protected against automated mass requests. Your browser solves a small computing task for that, usually unnoticed in the background; on the monthly “Activity” chart it only appears if you view a great many accounts one after another. There are no pictures to click, no cookies and nothing is passed to third parties; the check runs on our own server.
What does the BOT label on an account mean?
Reading & searching
The account is a chat bot – either labelled as such by Twitch, entered by us, or named by the streamer as the bot of their channel. In the public top chatters it appears in the list like any other account, just with the label – switch on the robot icon (“Hide bots”) there and it is gone; in the rankings of your own channel in “My file” it is left out, so bots do not crowd out real chatters there. If you think a label is wrong, write us a ticket.
Account & sign-in
What happens when I sign in with Twitch?
Account & sign-in
You sign in directly at Twitch; your password never reaches us. From Twitch we only receive your account ID and display name – no e-mail address and no access to your account. We ask for no permissions. The only exception is the prize wheel, which separately needs to read your channel-point redemptions.
To keep you signed in, your browser stores a cookie that expires by itself after 30 days. “Sign out” deletes it immediately.
What do “Streamer”, “Viewer” or “Potential streamer” in the account menu mean?
Account & sign-in
The label shows how we classify your account. “Streamer”: your own channel is recorded here. “Potential streamer”: Twitch lists you as a partner or affiliate, but your channel is not recorded yet – so we suggest submitting it. “Viewer”: neither.
If you have only just become an affiliate, the label can lag by up to a day – we do not ask Twitch on every page view.
How do favourites work?
Account & sign-in
The star next to a channel in the channel list pins it to the top. When signed in, your list applies on all your devices. What we store is not your name, only an encrypted identifier of your account together with the chosen channels. A second click on the star removes the favourite again.
Are my display settings saved?
Account & sign-in
Yes. Without signing in, only in your browser; when signed in, also on your account – then they apply on every device. On sign-in the account state wins; if you have none yet, we take over your device’s setting once. Only what differs from the default is stored. Reset everything and nothing remains.
How do I sign out again?
Account & sign-in
Via the account menu at the top right and “Sign out”. The sign-in cookie is deleted immediately. Without signing out it expires by itself after 30 days.
Why does my profile picture show a small number?
Account & sign-in
Something is waiting for you: either a new reply in one of your tickets or a notice – for example that you apparently stream yourself, but your channel is not recorded yet. The open menu tells you what exactly.
“Read” is remembered by your browser, not our server. On another device a notice therefore appears once more.
My file
What is “My file”?
My file
An evaluation of your own chat history: how many messages you have written and in which channels, since when you have been around, your most active days and hours, your records, your previous names, your Twitch status over time, plus subs and bits. It is visible only to you, after signing in with your Twitch account.
Why do I see a queue the first time I open my file?
My file
The very first time you open it, we crunch your entire chat history – the most expensive query on the whole site. To keep the server healthy, only a few files are computed at the same time; everyone else moves up in line, and you can watch your position live. The result is stored: from your second visit on, your file opens instantly, and only the days added since your last visit are recomputed.
What extra do I see in my file if my channel is recorded?
My file
The “My channel” tab with the evaluation of your own chat: the most active chatters, your moderators with their period, sub gifts and bits received, raids, and timeouts and bans in your channel. At the very top you see since when your channel has been an Affiliate or Partner. Only the channel owner can see all this. There are deliberately no money estimates for individual people.
What does “Your Twitch status” in my file show?
My file
A timeline: since when your account has been an Affiliate or Partner, and whether Twitch stopped returning it at some point. We check this against Twitch every night and note down whenever something changes. Only you can see it – as a streamer also in the “My channel” tab – nobody else.
“At the latest since” appears where we did not see the start ourselves but can only read it from our chat archive – for example from the Partner badge on your messages. The status may therefore have existed earlier, which is why this part of the timeline fades in instead of starting at a sharp edge.
“Not retrievable” means that Twitch gave us no information about your account during that time. Twitch does not say why – which is why it never says “suspended”.
Open “My file” What does the hammer mean? Privacy policy: Twitch status over time
Can I see another person’s file?
My file
No. The file exists only for the account you are signed in with – the address cannot be changed to a different account. What is publicly visible for any account is only the profile on the “Chat logs” page: the messages in recorded channels and the activity over time.
Can I search my own messages?
My file
Yes. In your file you can full-text search what you have written within a channel. Only your own messages are found – the search does not read anyone else’s. It looks through your more recent messages first; the “Search older messages” button covers everything before that.
Why is my file empty although I write a lot?
My file
Three possible reasons: you write in channels we do not record. Or you have objected to the recording – then we store nothing from you, and the file says so. Or your account is new and the first days have not been evaluated yet.
Why am I seeing messages from channels that are not in the list?
My file
When two channels stream together, Twitch merges their chats: every message then appears to the viewers of both channels. If we record only one of them, messages written in the other channel’s chat end up with us as well.
Those messages appear under “Other chat messages” – separate from the channel list, because they do not belong to any channel we record. You can see how many channels the messages are spread across and how many came from each one – but we do not name those channels, because these streamers are not recorded by us.
That is why we sometimes have nothing but these messages for someone. It is never a complete picture: of such a channel we only ever see the times when it was streaming together with a channel we do record.
My data & privacy
Why is there a public page about my channel?
My data & privacy
Every archived channel has an overview page so that the archive can be found through a search engine. It shows only what is public on Twitch anyway – name, profile picture, partner status – and figures about our archive: how many messages are stored, since when and on how many days. Not a single message, no viewer name.
If you are the streamer and do not want this, object to the recording. The page disappears immediately and redirects to the home page.
How do I stop my messages from being stored?
My data & privacy
Through the objection (opt-out), which you trigger yourself without asking us: open “My data & deletion”, sign in with the Twitch account to be removed, choose “Delete chat messages & history, stop logging”, solve the short security check and confirm.
After that, all stored messages of your account are permanently deleted across all channels, as is your name and profile-picture history – and future messages are no longer recorded. If you are a streamer yourself, this covers your own messages only: your channel keeps being recorded, including everything others write in it.
Open “My data & deletion” Open the opt-out page Remove my whole channel
Can I get an email when something happens?
My data & privacy
Yes, if you want. Under “My data” you enter an email address and click the confirmation link we send you – it is valid for one hour. Only then do we write to you, and only what you choose with switches: replies to your tickets, notices about your own channel and – if you stream yourself – rare notes about your overlays. No advertising, no news.
Every email has a link at the bottom that unsubscribes exactly this kind of message with one click. You can change or remove the address at any time; it is stored encrypted and is deleted together with your website data.
Why do I have to sign in with Twitch to object?
My data & privacy
Because messages are tied to your account’s Twitch ID, not the displayed name – and the name can be changed. Only the ID lets us find truly all of your messages. Signing in is also proof that the account is yours; otherwise anyone could have a stranger’s account removed. No permissions are requested.
If you cannot sign in, an informal e-mail to the address in the imprint with your Twitch name is enough – we will then remove you manually.
How quickly does the objection take effect?
My data & privacy
The recording stop takes effect with the next restart of the recording system – usually within a few minutes. The permanent deletion from the database then runs in the background. At the end we automatically verify that nothing is left; messages from the short window before the restart are deleted as well.
Can I withdraw the objection again?
My data & privacy
Yes, at any time and by yourself: sign in again under “My data & deletion” and choose “Back into logging”. From the next restart of the recording system on, your new messages are stored again. What has already been deleted stays deleted – it cannot be restored.
What remains stored after the objection?
My data & privacy
Two things, both without any message content: your Twitch ID with account name in our block list – without it we could not prevent future recording – and a deletion log with time, chosen options, number of deleted records and the result of the final check. This lets us prove the deletion was complete.
How do I get a copy of my data?
My data & privacy
Under “My data & deletion” with “Request data” – immediately, no waiting. You get a ZIP file with everything we hold on your account: all messages (including deleted ones), name and profile-picture history, favourites, display settings, statistics, tickets and the settings of your overlays. The files are machine-readable and come with an explanation.
Can I delete only my account data but stay in the archive?
My data & privacy
Yes. Under “My data & deletion” there is the option “Delete all other website data” for that. It removes favourites, your votes for channel suggestions, tickets, display settings and your overlays including collected clips – your chat messages stay in the archive, and recording continues.
I am a streamer and want my channel not to be recorded at all any more.
My data & privacy
The objection above only concerns your own account as a chatter. For the whole channel, the fastest way is a ticket with the subject “Remove my channel from logging”. Please tell us whether we should only stop recording or additionally delete all messages of your channel stored so far. We confirm the result in the ticket. An informal e-mail works as well.
Does chatlogs.de use cookies or tracking?
My data & privacy
No tracking cookies, no ads, no profiles. There is a cookie only when you sign in; language and theme are remembered locally by your browser. We measure visitor numbers cookie-free on our own server, without IP addresses and without any identifier beyond the day. If your browser has “Do Not Track” set, we do not measure at all.
If you are signed in, we additionally count once a day that an account was here – as an encrypted identifier without a name and without a time of day, plus the coarse group (streamer, viewer or bot), so we know how many people come back. What you look at is not recorded.
Privacy policy: audience measurement Privacy: visit statistics
Where is the data stored?
My data & privacy
On servers in Germany. Backups are also held with a German provider. Cloudflare sits in front of the website as protection against overload attacks; this technically involves processing your IP address. All providers are listed in the privacy policy.
Who can see my messages here?
My data & privacy
Everyone – just as in the Twitch chat itself, where they were public. Not public, however, are: the wording of deleted messages, the contents of your name and profile-picture history, your file, your settings and your tickets. Who may see which of these is explained in the respective answers here and in the privacy policy.
Are my messages used for AI?
My data & privacy
No, we don’t make them available for that: chat histories, profiles and the app itself are closed to the bots of AI companies, both for answering questions and for training models.
AI services such as ChatGPT or Claude may only read what a search engine can find – the home page, these answers and the channel pages, which show nothing but figures. Of those, only pages that aren’t about a particular channel are open for training.
This only stops programs that identify themselves as AI bots, though – the chats themselves are public, just as they are on Twitch.
Is archiving public chats allowed at all?
My data & privacy
We store only messages their authors knowingly published in a publicly visible chat, and we do not combine them with any other sources. The basis is our legitimate interest in making public chat events traceable. Because not everyone wants permanent archiving, any person can object at any time by themselves. The full assessment is in the privacy policy.
An entry about me is wrong – what can I do?
My data & privacy
Write us a ticket with the subject “Report incorrect data”: what is wrong and what it should be. We check it and reply in the ticket.
I can no longer sign in to Twitch – how do I still object?
My data & privacy
Send an informal e-mail to the address in the imprint and state your Twitch name. We will then remove you manually and delete your messages. This also applies to suspended or deleted Twitch accounts.
OBS overlays
Which overlays are there?
OBS overlays
Four, all free and without any download: the clip overlay plays random clips from your channel – for breaks and away scenes. Your viewers spin the wheel of fortune with a channel points reward. The chatbox shows your live chat in the stream picture, stream stats show your chat’s numbers as tiles that take turns. All four run as a browser source in OBS or any other streaming software with a browser source. On top of that, there are images for the info panels below your stream, also in the “Stream stats” tab.
Open the clip overlay Open the prize wheel Open the chatbox Open stream stats
Why can’t I create an overlay?
OBS overlays
The overlays exist only for channels whose chat we record – they need the profile pictures and the chat history from the archive. If your channel is not recorded yet, you can submit it right on the overlay page with one click. The submission counts for all overlays together; afterwards you see the processing status in the same place.
How do I add an overlay to OBS?
OBS overlays
In OBS, add a new source of type “Browser”, paste the address from the overlay page into the URL field, enter width 1920 and height 1080 and place the source above the game picture. For the clip overlay, also tick “Shutdown source when not visible” so no clips keep running in the background.
Set font size, width and design on the overlay page, not in OBS – that keeps the text sharp. Streamlabs and other programs with a browser source work the same way.
What about the secret overlay address?
OBS overlays
The address is the only way to reach your overlay – whoever knows it can see it. So do not show it on stream. If it has been visible after all, click the red arrow next to the address (“Generate a new address”): the old one becomes invalid immediately, and you enter the new one in OBS. Your settings are kept.
Why does the clip overlay also show very old clips – and not repeat itself?
OBS overlays
On its own, Twitch only hands out around a thousand clips of a channel, always the same most-viewed ones. Instead we collect the whole stock month by month – for big channels many times that. That way the great clip from two years ago comes up again too.
The overlay remembers what it has played and only repeats once the stock has been exhausted. You can narrow down the period, minimum views, language and maximum length.
How do new clips get into the overlay?
OBS overlays
Automatically: once a week, at night, we fetch your channel’s new clips, and if the overlay runs for more than twelve hours without a refresh, it fetches them on the next request. If you do not want to wait, the overlay page has a “Refresh collection” button.
Why is a particular clip no longer played?
OBS overlays
Clips disappear over time – deleted by the streamer, removed by Twitch or blocked regionally. If a clip fails to play three times, the overlay removes it from the selection. If Twitch delivers it again later, it comes back by itself. For very large channels we also collect at most the newest 100,000 clips.
Does the clip overlay keep playing when its scene isn't on screen?
OBS overlays
No. If the overlay sits in a scene that isn't currently shown, it pauses and doesn't fetch any new clips. As soon as the scene is visible again, it starts with a fresh clip. That way, only clips that were actually on screen count as played.
How does the prize wheel work?
OBS overlays
You link a channel-point reward of your choice to the wheel. When a viewer redeems it, the wheel spins on stream and the result appears big in the picture. You do not have to click anything meanwhile. Several redemptions in quick succession are played one after the other.
The fields are numbers or your own labels. If you like, they stay hidden until the wheel stops, or they are used up so every field comes up only once. 16 designs, each with its own win effect; “Test spin” lets you try everything without viewers.
Why does the prize wheel need an extra Twitch permission?
OBS overlays
For us to learn when someone redeems the reward, Twitch must be allowed to tell us about your channel-point redemptions. That single permission is what we ask for when connecting – nothing else. You can disconnect again at any time on the prize wheel page.
The wheel is not visible in OBS – is that a bug?
OBS overlays
No, that is by design: the area stays transparent and the wheel appears only while it spins. Afterwards it fades out again. You can check the source with “Test spin” on the prize wheel page – it plays a complete spin in OBS.
Can the wheel result also be posted in chat?
OBS overlays
Yes, via Streamer.bot: the prize wheel page provides a ready-made script that you paste there once and link to the same channel-point reward. It fetches the result once the wheel has stopped on stream – not before, so the chat gives nothing away – and posts it. Several spins in a row are combined into one message, which can be pinned if you like.
The win effect runs at a different speed for me than in the preview.
OBS overlays
That should no longer happen: the wheel and its effects run by the clock, not by the frame rate. Whether OBS works at 30 or 60 frames per second only changes how smooth the effect looks – not how fast it is. Only below ten frames per second does it slow down; then the source has a different problem, such as not enough computing power.
What can the chatbox do?
OBS overlays
It shows your live Twitch chat as a browser source in OBS – with badges, profile pictures, emotes from Twitch, 7TV, BTTV and FFZ, and with subs, raids and bits in the colours from the archive. Chat modes such as “Subscribers only” or “Slow” appear as a small label.
Design, entry motion, corner, font size, width and display time are set on the chatbox page; the live preview shows immediately how it looks. You can hide commands, known bots and individual accounts via a block list.
What happens to deleted messages and timeouts in the chatbox?
OBS overlays
They disappear from the picture immediately – the chatbox has no moderator view. Even when you start OBS and the chatbox preloads the latest messages from the archive, deleted lines stay out.
How do I test the chatbox when nobody is writing?
OBS overlays
With the “Sample messages” button on the chatbox page. It plays an invented sample chat with every kind of line – subs, raids, bits, badges – both in the preview and in your OBS source. Filters such as “Commands” or the block list deliberately do not apply to the samples so you can see every line type.
My chatbox stays empty – is it your fault?
OBS overlays
Usually not: as long as nobody is writing in chat, the chatbox stays empty, and after a scene change in OBS it takes a moment before it picks the chat up again. Try the “Sample messages” button first – if those arrive in your OBS source, everything is working.
If not even the samples arrive, take a look at the status page. The chatbox has had a row of its own there since September 2026: if it is red, it is on us – the chat connection that every chatbox shares is down at that moment. If it is green, the cause is more likely OBS or the address of your browser source.
What language are sub, raid and milestone messages in the chatbox?
OBS overlays
Whatever you picked under “Language of on-screen labels” on the chatbox page – if it is set to “Automatic”, in the language of the computer running OBS. Lines such as “watch streak”, “42 viewers from … have joined” or “subscribed for 12 months” are written by us from the details Twitch sends.
Until September 2026 those lines came ready-made from Twitch and were therefore always English, no matter what you had selected. Anything a viewer typed themselves – the message with their sub, for example – stays exactly as written.
Can I put numbers from my chat into my Twitch panels?
OBS overlays
Yes, as an image. On the “OBS overlays” page, the “Stream stats” tab has two images for the info panels below your stream: “When is chat busiest?” shows on which days and at which times your chat is at its liveliest, counted since the archive began; the “Banner” points to your chat archive. Both are 320 pixels wide – the width Twitch uses for panels. Download the image, add a panel with it on Twitch and enter the address of your chat archive as its link.
The images show no viewer names. They are available for channels whose chat we record.
Why don’t the numbers in my Twitch panel update by themselves?
OBS overlays
Twitch keeps a copy of the image when you upload it. Today, Twitch doesn’t let a panel load an image from another website, and we can’t swap it afterwards either. That’s why panels only get images without daily numbers: the pattern of your chat hardly shifts, and the “Banner” shows no number at all – you don’t need to renew either of them regularly.
Numbers that update by themselves are available on stream: stream stats show them as tiles in OBS.
What do the stream stats show?
OBS overlays
It shows tiles with your chat’s numbers in OBS, one after another: “Overview”, “Top chatters”, “When is chat busiest?”, “Favourite emotes”, “Today in chat” and “This month”. Each tile builds up with an animation and then makes way for the next one.
You choose in the “Stream stats” tab which tiles run, whether in a fixed order or shuffled every round, how long each one stays and whether there’s a break in between; the preview shows the result right away. OBS only needs a single address for this – changes reach it without a new one.
The “Overview” counts everything since the archive began. “Top chatters”, “When is chat busiest?” and “Favourite emotes” cover the last 30 days – top chatters can also go back to the start of the archive. “Today in chat” counts from midnight, “This month” from the first of the month. Each tile shows its period at the top, above its title.
How up to date are the stream stats?
OBS overlays
“Today in chat”, “This month” and the top chatters refresh every five minutes. The other tiles are recalculated once an hour – over 30 days, nothing you could see changes in five minutes. If the scene with the stats is hidden in OBS, it doesn’t ask for new numbers at all and fetches the latest ones as soon as it’s visible again.
What does the dashed line in “Today in chat” show?
OBS overlays
Your stream’s viewers over the course of the day, in five-minute steps and only while you’re live. You can read them off the numbers on the right; the numbers on the left are messages per hour. While you’re live, a red dot in the top right shows how many people are watching right now – the same number Twitch shows under your stream, which we check every minute.
Can I show on stream that my chat is archived?
OBS overlays
Yes. In the “Stream stats” tab, “On-stream notice” gives you a second address for OBS. Every now and then it shows “Chat archived at chatlogs.de/kanal/…” – just text, nothing behind it. In the tab you choose how often it appears, how long it stays and how it comes in: “Fade in”, “Type in” or “Slide in”. To keep it readable over a bright game, the text has a dark outline – under “Text outline” you pick “Subtle”, “Clear” or “Strong”. The minutes only count while the source is visible in your scene, so if you briefly switch to another scene and back, the notice doesn’t pop up again right away.
Why do I appear in a streamer’s stream stats?
OBS overlays
The “Top chatters” tile shows a channel’s five most active chatters with their name, profile picture and number of messages – a ranking like the one chatlogs.de shows for every archived channel. If you object to the archiving, you disappear from it – usually within a few minutes, at most within an hour.
How do I delete an overlay again?
OBS overlays
On the respective overlay page with “Delete overlay”. That removes the address, all settings and – for the clip overlay – the collected clips with their play history. Alternatively, the option “All other website data” under “My data & deletion” removes all overlays at once.
Do the overlays collect data about my viewers?
OBS overlays
No. The overlay runs on the computer running OBS and sends us nothing about your viewers. That computer fetches clips directly from Twitch, and the chatbox only reads the public chat – the same messages that end up in the archive anyway. Anyone who has objected to recording does not appear in the chatbox from the archive either.

How do I suggest a channel – or submit my own?
For streamers
You suggest someone else’s channel on the “Chat logs” page via “Suggest channel”: Twitch sign-in, enter the name, short security check. Each account gets one vote, and the vote is stored anonymously – your name is not linked to the suggestion.
The easiest way to submit your own channel is “Submit my channel” on one of the overlay pages. That submission is deliberately not anonymous: we record that the owner made it themselves, to tell it apart from suggestions by third parties.
How long does the review take, and where do I see the status?
For streamers
Every suggestion is reviewed manually; there is no fixed deadline, but it is usually quick. If you submitted your own channel, you see the status with a date on the overlay page. If it was accepted, reload the page and set up your overlay. If it was not added and you have questions, write us a ticket – we reply personally.
I have opted out of being recorded – can someone still suggest my channel?
For streamers
Anyone can suggest you, but you will not be added: while your opt-out is active, adding your channel is blocked – for us too. The suggestion simply stays put, and whoever made it learns nothing about your opt-out. If you want to take part later, end the opt-out under “My data & deletion” – then your channel can be added again.
How do I name the chat bot of my channel?
For streamers
Via “My chat bot” in the account menu – the item appears once your channel is recorded. You name exactly one account; it must have written in your channel before. It then carries the BOT label everywhere, and it is left out of the rankings of your channel in “My file”. This takes effect immediately, and you can remove the entry at any time.
I can’t enter my bot: “slot taken” or “already registered”.
For streamers
“Slot taken” means a bot is already listed for your channel – usually one we maintain ourselves so you do not have to. If the entry is wrong, write us a ticket. “Already registered” means the account is already named for another channel. If two channels share a bot, only the first can enter it – the second just contacts us briefly.
I am a moderator but see “not verified” or get no access.
For streamers
We recognise the moderator role by the mod badge on your most recent message in that particular channel – without having to ask Twitch. The proof is valid for 60 days. If your last message there is older, just write something in that chat once; a few minutes later the proof is renewed. Channel owners need no proof.
Where do I find numbers about my own channel?
For streamers
In “My file” under the “My channel” tab: most active chatters, moderators, subs, bits, raids and moderation actions – visible only to you. Publicly available, on the other hand, are your channel’s top chatters and top emotes on the “Chat logs” page.
Contact & problems
Can I just send you an email?
Contact & problems
Yes. An email to one of the addresses in our legal notice automatically becomes a ticket – no Twitch account needed. You get a short confirmation with a case key, and our reply comes back by email. If you reply to it, your message lands in the same case.
If you later sign in with Twitch and confirm the same address under “My data”, you will also see the case on the website. We do not take over attachments, and automatic messages such as out-of-office replies do not become tickets.
How do I reply to a ticket by email?
Contact & problems
Just reply to our email and write your message at the top. We leave out the earlier messages your email program quotes underneath – they are already in the ticket. It is best to reply from the address our email was sent to: if your reply comes from a different address, we file it as a separate ticket to be safe and merge the two if needed.
Why was my ticket merged into another one?
Contact & problems
If you write to us twice about the same thing, once through the website and once by email, we turn it into a single ticket. That keeps everything in one place and you get one reply instead of two. The old ticket remains visible and points to the ticket where the conversation continues. If you reply to an older email from us, your message still arrives in the right place.
How do I reach you?
Contact & problems
Best via a ticket under “My tickets” – you sign in with Twitch for that. You choose a subject, write your message, and we reply in the ticket; the number on your profile picture shows when something new has arrived. Without a Twitch account you can reach us by e-mail at the address in the imprint.

Which subjects are there in a ticket?
Contact & problems
General request, remove a bot label, remove my channel from logging, stop logging me, information about my data, report incorrect data and bug on the website. Two of them you can skip: objection and data access you handle yourself under “My data & deletion”, immediately and without waiting.
I found a bug – how do I report it?
Contact & problems
With a ticket “Bug on the website”. We find it fastest if you write what you did, what happened and what you expected instead – plus the address from the address bar and your device or browser.
How do I know you have replied?
Contact & problems
By the red dot on the account button and the number next to “My tickets” in the menu. If you have confirmed an email address under “My data” and switched on notifications for ticket replies, we will also send you an email. If you have not given us an address, we cannot write to you – so just check back after a while.
Can I request a feature?
Contact & problems
Gladly. Write us a ticket with the subject “General request” and describe what you are missing and what you would use it for. A lot here came about exactly that way.
